Sopron – The City of Stars 

World-class stars arriving to Telekom VOLT Festival have left a mark on the streets of Sopron since 2011. Organizers of VOLT surprise five artists and some local celebrities with unique sculpture-chairs made by István Ef Zámbó every year. All artists have been very pleased to receive this exciting gift and these chairs are displayed on the streets, public squares, terraces of Sopron, host city of the festival. Today, visitors can find almost 30 of our beloved artists’ chairs to relax on or take a selfie with.

Norbert Lobenwein and Zoltán Fülöp, organizers of the festival, said: “There are 4-5 days in the year since 1993 when Sopron is even more in the spotlight. Hundreds of thousands of people are on the streets, public squares and hundreds of bands as well as dozens of world-known performers arrive to this beautiful city, where children, young people and elderly are smiling, because the atmosphere of VOLT is not something you feel everyday in Sopron. As the founding-organizers of Telekom VOLT Festival we thought that our birth city deserve this special attention even outside of VOLT. We would like the unique chairs of the City of Stars to be a touristic attraction all-year round. We believe that a city can only be cool if it has a pretty downtown area with lovely restaurants and cafés and you can even sit on the chairs of Lemmy, David Guetta, Billy Idol, Linkin Park or Iron Maiden.”
